Events
Somerset East is host to
a number of events that are favourites in the diaries of many
people, both participants as well as spectators. Here is a
list in the order in which they take place during the year.
Bruintjieshoogte
Cycle Fest, January
Road races of 20, 50, 100 and 160 kms; mountain bike events of 25
and 60 kms; plus parties, lucky draws and a street mile.

Bruintjieshoogte
Marathon, March
25 km and 10 km road races and a mountain walk/run with a pasta
party in the evening.

Biltong Festival,
July
Begun in 1991, this feast of entertainment draws thousands of
visitors with its several hundred stalls, numerous South African
entertainers and, of course, lots and lots of Biltong!

Fook Festival
(Cultural Youth Festival), July
An opportunity for schools to participate in cultural activities
such as music, drama, dance, creative writing, art and craft.
